Do you think the Harvey’s on Albemarle Road would survive?

I see BI-LO and Harvey's Supermarkets exiting North Carolina.
In other news, the remainder of Rite-Aid ended up being sold to Albertsons. I wonder if all of the NC & SC stores will be under Walgreens or Albertsons.

I believe Walgreens acquired almost every single Rite Aid in NC. If memory serves me right, only 9 or so stores didn't go to Walgreens.

In NC, the Rite Aid stores were acquired by Walgreen's. They will currently remain Rite Aid with a Walgreen's pharmacy. Eventually they will probably be completely converted to Walgreen's. Somewhat similar to Duane Reade in New York. Certain Rite Aid stores in other states will be operated by Albertson's. In SC, all Rite Aid stores will close. But I still miss back when they were Eckerd.

Rite-Aid retained 9 stores in NC that I assume will now be owned by Albertson's.
The reports didn't mention that all stores in SC would be closing, just that they weren't included in the Walgreens sale.

This is a case where the customers lose. I'm not a fan of Walgreens. I saw what they did to Happy Harry's in Delaware.

I'm also not a huge fan of Albertsons, but they might be buying RiteAid stores that Walgreens didn't buy & RiteAid's discount grocery chain. (The reason that RiteAid actually belongs in this thread.) If that's the case, they'll keep those RiteAid stores open in some form.

I do not know the exact number of Rite Aid stores and the breakdown of Rite Aid stores by state Walgreen's is acquiring. Many excess locations will close and sit dark considering any Walgreen's and Rite Aid stores are within proximity and are competing directly against CVS.

Albertson's had minimal presence across the southeastern United States with three Safeway supermarkets in Florida. If it will be operating a quantity of Rite Aid stores across the southeastern United States, it would need a distribution center.
