You might want to keep an eye on the Fairview area of Union County as that is Piedmont Schools. Not a lot in that price range but a few came up. Some subdivisions to watch would be Barbee Farms, Hamilton Place, Lake Park. Back roads will cut that time down for sure.

Barbee Farms students no longer attend Piedmont or Porter Ridge. They go to Monroe schools, now. When she looks at the County school website, it will divide the areas by the schools the students attend. I think she said they home schooled. I lived in Barbee Farms when we first moved here and I would not recommend it, now. Fairview might be a little too far out for them, she said she wanted to have shopping, I seem to remember something about 5 miles. I may be mistaken. Hamilton Place is Piedmont and that would be fine. I don't think you can find that price point in Lake Park unless it's a townhouse.

Interesting, what is it about Barbee Farms that you didn't like? There is a listing for 200k in Lake Park.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

We're not opposed to townhomes; top priority is a decent commute to Hendrick and schools are important too. Drove through Lake Park today, it seemed nice. Some townhome communities are awful; you really have to drive through to get an idea of what the parking and patio situation is.
