I know that there probably isn't much farming around the LKN area, but I am still concerned about runoff of chemicals, etc. Is it safe to eat fish caught there? As a kid, I used to eat catfish out of the Catawba, but that was a long time ago.

I fished in the Catawba as a kid, too!!!
Frankly, I would not want to eat anything out of LKN until the water level is up b/c I, too, am concerned about pesticide run off.
Do you fly fish? THere are wonderful blue ribbon trout streams in western NC (but you probably already know that).

I am an avid sea fisherman. I spend as much time as possible about 20-30 miles offshore. It will be a pretty big change for me. I haven't really done much fishing in the western part of the state, but I plan to. The only thing that I have against lake fishing is that I will know what I am going to catch. The mystery isn't there, but that isn't to say that it isn't just as much fun. I will definately wait until the water level rises. Thanks.
Post here tomorrow and lets see how you are feeling then. Of course, hoping you feel just fine! I love a nice fresh bass . . .
I'm still alive.. and NOT doubled over the toilet!
One thing I notice about most folks on this board is that they are a bit of "koodies freaks". The human body is an amazing thing... you come into contact with countless bacteria on a daily basis.
The lake level aside (I do kind of understand the point there), I don't see any reason not to eat fish caught in LKN. It's not the East River.

Hee Hee Hee. No, not the east river. But w/the nuclear plants, you know, things do glow sometimes at night.
