I just moved here earlier this year and I'm in my early 30's and would like to date men my age or older. I googled singles events and didn't see anything in Charlotte.

Terrible for women. Not only my experience but those of a wide variety of women that I know here. May be better if you are in your early 30's though as I am a little older.

It isn't easy, unfortunately.

Is it any different than anywhere else? I found it hard in Philly, I find it hard in New England...as a woman. We're just outnumbering the available dudes.

I used to think all if the golf courses in Charlotte were sub par. I played all of them. Private, public, expensive, cheap, Bermuda, Bent, Fazio, Ross, links, target...all of them. And they all were awful. The city golf scene was 100% poor.

Then I looked at my equipment. My driver was cracked. My irons were rusted and worn and my golf ball didn't have any dimples. Turned out focusing on myself was the best thing I could have done. Now I enjoy every course I play.

Slightly off topic, but I bring it up because of the golf analogy above...

If I were a woman looking to meet a man, I'd take up golfing.

The guy/girl ratio is heavily in your favor, your getting to know guys in a much more 'normal' setting (compared to bars, or on-line dating). You pretty much are guaranteed the guys have a normal job/money, and while they might have a couple of beers, they won't normally be drunks.

I took up golfing a few years ago; I got hooked on it, and would often go out by myself and get paired up with someone else. Met some great people that way.

It is a really nice, low stress way to meet people. It's kind of rare to see a woman on the course, and if you did, she'd have pretty much everyone's attention throughout.
