Do you think that a small, worker-owned, custom brick work business would do well in the Charlotte area? I'm talking about brick mailboxes, sidewalks, landscaping, firepits, bbq's, etc....
Would there be a strong market for this type of high quality custom work?

Well, I for one could use a good mason for some small projects. I would think between the contractors and people like me who want custom work (big projects as well as small projects) - any artisan w/ real talent who can marketing him/herself would find a niche here.

Maybe others will have more specific info.

I agree with Ani. I just purchased my first home, and I'm already thinking of things that I want to do in the yard. Good work, and fair prices will always appeal to the buyer. Everyone wants custom something when it comes to their home. Good luck with your business.Keep us posted on what you decided to do. Word of mouth is still the best advertising

Thanks for the feedback.
It's actually for family member who is also considering a move to the Charlotte/Pineville area later this year. He's been in the business for 10+ years, but unfortunately the market for this type of work (including new homes) is quickly dwindling right now in MD.
With all of the beautiful brick homes in NC I thought he might do much better here.
