My admittedly amateur interpretation of the weather reports suggests it could mostly miss us, or it could be absolutely catastrophic.
The latter concern is based on the high wind speed prior to passing through the warmest waters which tend to intensity the storm and also by the mind-bogglingly low pressure.
(Mods, this is a repost -- perhaps it is time to combine Hurricane Irma threads?)
1 - 2 inches of rain in that forecast from NOAA for the Charlotte area (which is a long way off and not very accurate yet). Always worth staying on top of the news and having your hurricane plans ready in the event the expected impact in the Charlotte area is worse.
