Anyone else keeping an eye on Irma?

Some projections have it running from Miami up the 95 corridor. Could be disastrous.

Of course everyone is. It's a little too early to freak out.

That is exactly what I was going to type. You must be smart!

Beware of all of those weather reports brought to you by the local Bread, Milk and Egg Council.

I've got a couple of friends on various islands in the Caribbean, hate it for them and anyone else down that way right now. Dangerous storm.

My admittedly amateur interpretation of the weather reports suggests it could mostly miss us, or it could be absolutely catastrophic.

The latter concern is based on the high wind speed prior to passing through the warmest waters which tend to intensity the storm and also by the mind-bogglingly low pressure.

It is early to tell which direction Irma will go. It is not early to realize it is hurricane season, and it is better to prepare sooner than later.

Latest update I could find:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.2e5d924a05b6

(Mods, this is a repost -- perhaps it is time to combine Hurricane Irma threads?)

1 - 2 inches of rain in that forecast from NOAA for the Charlotte area (which is a long way off and not very accurate yet). Always worth staying on top of the news and having your hurricane plans ready in the event the expected impact in the Charlotte area is worse.
