Both VERY good in my opinion, but after one visit to each I can’t pick a winner. It’ll take more research, more visits, but I hope to pick a favorite. Anyone else prefer Neapolitan/thin crust artisan pizza? Any other contenders in Charlotte?

Inizio Pizza Napoletana | Dedicated to the art and craft of true Neapolitan-style pizza

I prefer Roman style. I prefer more things added to the pizza. I have eaten all over Naples including the alleged original home of pizza. Good but not anything to write home about. Have also eaten roman style pizza all over Rome. Like New York pizza, some is good some is bad, none are rally original. I prefer thin, crispy crust with ingredients but the ingredients are what make a crust soggy. The Roman pizza crust is made thicker to absorb the liquids from things added. In other words, I don't give a rat's a$$ about the origins of pizza. I just care if it is good. Hell, I am often just as happy with a DiGourno (spelling uncertain), Godfathers, or Tombstone pizza in many cases. I've even had Domino's that were fine. The best pizza I have ever had was in Vienna, Austria at the city park. It was none of the above and the guys that made and sold it in the booth were middle-eastern. It was the greatest. It was a combination of all that can be good in a pizza with thin crust.

You should go to Urban Spoon, Yelp, or other sources to find what most people prefer. There are hundreds of good pizza joints around and despite what New Yorkers say. It is all about the individual pizza and one's preference. Being a New York, Roman, Neapolitan doesn't always equate to a great pizza for everyone. Happy hunting.

Default Neopolitan in Charlotte

I’ve tried DeSano, Omaggio, Alino & Intermezzo & they’ve all been disappointing when compared to Inizio. The sauce, the char, the ingredients & the flavor combinations @ Inizio are much more elevated. Inizio makes me yearn a little less often for Keste & DiFara’s in NYC.
