Here’s a friendly advice for those seeking advice about moving to Charlotte:
First, check Sunny’s Index of Charlotte - Links to Key Relocation Topics & Cities/Communities! & Events . Chances are, your question may have been answered already in anyone of the multiple threads very intelligently organized. Do a Search. There is a link at the upper right hand corner of the thread that says Search This Thread. You can browse it at your leisure thereby getting the info you want without waiting for posters to respond to your thread. It will also be very comprehensive unless you have a very, very specific concern.
- If by some chance your questions have already not been covered in the sticky, start your thread with the following guidelines:
If looking for a job, tell us what you do or looking to do, qualifications, credentials, hours desired, commute preferences, experiences with recruiters etc. etc.
If you’re looking for a home, tell us your price range and preferences again for commute, family or pet friendliness, shopping, etc.
If you’re looking for a school, tell us why your criteria is anything different than what is already presented.
If you’re looking for a specific denominational church, specify denomination. For example, say you’re looking for a Romanian Pentecostal Church in Hickory or Huntersville. You get the picture!
Realize that a forum is made largely of opinions. You need to form your own from what you read. Realize also that some people are happy with their decisions/situation and some are not. The trick is to be able to filter out the opinion to get at the information you need.
The posters in the Charlotte forum are generous with their time and help especially for those “hard to find” items. Please help yourselves to the wealth of information already available by doing a quick search. It eliminates the redundancy, the wait and dependence on whoever is available to respond and has the propensity to respond to the thread. Remember, information sometimes can only be as good as it is timely.
Welcome to Charlotte!

New Year and the forum's been seeing a normal flow of movers seeking advice. This just happens to be one of my favorite threads for links/information so thought it'd be good to have it re-surface for a bit.
The Index Thread is dated but contains a ton of information in a pre-sorted format which may be helpful if new users are uncomfortable/unfamiliar with the search tool or it's just giving too many results.
Some topics covered include: Schools, Transportation, Living Expenses, Comparing Charlotte to other regions, Neighborhoods, etc...
