I have been wanting to move to NC for years. Instead of moving to NC from NYC I ended up in MD. What a boneheaded idea that was. Now 3 years after that move I am resigning and moving to Concord. I know the traffic will be tough at certain tomes but nothing as bad as NYC! I know construction is out of control and will not have a tough time finding a job. Thats the questionable thing for me but its hard to apply for a job when they need me within 2 weeks. I have to wait until I vest my 401k (June 6th) with my current company. I will take a substantial 30k hit on my salary but the thought of a better cost of living and better way of life is better than that. My apartment is leased and my big day is 7/10! Tired of snowflakes here in Md and Dc. I’m sure everyone is cringing that so many are relocating to the area but I hope my neighbors will accept me!

Don't worry there are plenty of DC, MD, and NY transplants in the area. I'm one of those and I know many others. Concord is a great place to live though it is quickly becoming overcrowded. We've been here for 15 years now.
Welcome. We moved to Concord about 7 years ago from Long Island, NY (originally from Brooklyn). We rent in the Concord Mills area and love it here. I work in the Myers Park neighborhood of Charlotte and the commute isn't that bad (especially compared the my old L.I.E. commute in NY). The worst traffic for me is by Concord Mills Mall itself! Good luck here and hope you enjoy it.
Good luck with your relocation, Ernie. I also will be joining you in the Charlotte area—moving to Mooresville from FL 6/4 and am very excited (after being almost “bankrupted” by the moving company!) To RP2C: I also am originally from Brooklyn & grew up in Long Island (Huntington).

Welcome to North Carolina! I first moved to the Charlotte area from Ohio back in 2014, then moved to AZ in 2018 for a new job opportunity. I just made my way back to Charlotte earlier this week and I couldn't be happier!
I moved to Concord, NC from NY in 2001, no regrets!
