Should I have much opportunity as a self-employed portrait photographer and videographer? I'm a perfectionist and prefer to produce high-quality work, and would charge accordingly.

What's the social scene like, what is there to do besides bar crawling? I'm much more into the daylife scene than nightlife.

Are the people very friendly, is it easy to make friends?

Are the people non-judgmental and open-minded? I am far from traditional or religious.

Although other factors are important, dating is my main reason for wanting to move and I'm not shy about that. Note: I'm a male. Where I live, there are 40% more young men than women. Competition is brutal. And being a small, conservative town with a traditional mindset, everyone is either already taken or not open to dating someone outside their small circle of friends.

Do people want to stay in Charlotte? I would move to Gainesville, FL. for example, but it's a college town and as far as I can tell, the ladies don't want to stay after they graduate... I don't want to have to move and close my business because my partner hates the city I found her in.

Is it difficult to meet women in real-life and get a date? That is, are there many decent venues that a lot of eligible ladies attend? Or should I have much luck in grocery stores, etc.? I'm not a fan of online dating.

Are women very open to being approached? The contrast between my city and Tallahassee was shocking. Women in FL were so much friendlier when I expressed interest in them.

Are there many attractive, young white women that are single and approachable? Which parts of Charlotte are mostly white? And I'm not racist, this is simply about what I'm sexually attracted to.

Is the community ageist? That is, would a lot of people treat me like I'm a creep if I'm with a woman 10 years younger?

...I visited Tampa and I LOVED it; it's almost everything I want. The people are wonderfully easy-going, and the women are beautiful and take care of themselves. Sadly though, I can't afford the auto insurance there.

It is impossible to generalize about women in the Charlotte area, just as it is impossible to generalize about men. However, the facts are there are about 52% female in Charlotte versus 48% male. Thus your chances are better.

Curious why you cannot afford the auto insurance in Tampa? If it is for a DUI charge, that is a red flag for most women.

From my experience, women are looking for emotional maturity in a man. They want someone who will show them individual attention rather than hanging out with the guys. Most want someone who wants to settle down eventually and raise a family, even if they are busy with a career. I also suspect that people in Charlotte are not as "easy-going" as people in Tampa. I suggest coming for a visit, and check out meeting places other than bars. For example, co-ed sports and churches.

FL is a no-fault state and that tends to make car insurance higher than states without no-fault. He seemed to be going for his master's degree so perhaps stripping was what was going to help pay for grad school.

Yeah, because I'm sub-human for wanting to do a legitimate and legal career. No sir, you are the horrible, bigoted specimen.

I rarely feed the trolls, but in this case you're not just putting me down. You're insulting every stripper.

Yep, it's a no-fault state. It's also #1 in the nation for uninsured motorists. The agent also told me that people in FL are sue-happy. And I was also told that at least near Tampa, the rates are so high partially because there's a crazy amount of road construction.

Plus the fact that I drive 50k miles per year probably hurt my rates.
