To live in 'uptown' Charlotte, one should have a concealed cary permit, proper training and be willing to use the weapon. Robberies, rapes and murders occur nearly daily here in Charlotte. City Bus driver was just murdered recently while on his route in the Uptown area.

As is well known by now, NC crime is covered sooner and in much better detail by the UK press, namely the Daily Mail out of London. Most NC media will ignore major crimes, or tender a truly badly written and produced news item the reader is still left wondering what actually happened, and how far in school did the writer/producer actually go. The Cannon Hinnant case quickly comes to mind. Charlotte media refused to touch the story for about a week.

Can you explain how the UK press handles local crime in "much better" detail? I'm not doubting you, I just wonder why they would be so involved. I used to be a Daily Mail reader when I lived in London. I know that there are plenty of murders in Charlotte, but 90 percent are in high crime areas where most of us don't live or transit through. We are still low on the violent crime scene compared to other big cities.

The news media is controlled by morons that want to ensure that they don't hurt the feelings of certain groups (lots of groups). They also want to ensure that parity exists and everyone gets an equal share of awards and positive recognition regardless of whether earned or not. Actually, Charlotte is much safer than most cities our size. Most murders are not random. If one just goes about their lives and ignores morons and thugs, they will be fine. And it is helpful to know the neighborhoods.

The Charlotte Observer is a piece of left wing crap making it difficult to trust them. The only good thing about UK newspapers are the centerfold pictures.
