My husband and I are looking to move to Charlotte but have never visited before. This weekend will be our first trip. What are the top things you recommend doing in order to get a good feel of the city and suburbs? i.e., growing suburbs to visit, shopping areas, restaurants, etc. We are a young family looking for a community with several cultural and entertainment options and also a nice area to raise a family. Any advice you have to help make the trip worthwhile would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, right off the bat I'll warn you to stay away from the northeast quadrant of the city near the NASCAR track - this is a big race weekend! People have been arriving since last weekend. Do you have reservations for a place to stay yet? I'd rather give you directions starting from there

Also, do you have a job you would be transferring with . . . so we could determine what areas of the region would be a good commute for you. Then we can tell you what places to concentrate on for checking out amenities, neighborhoods, schools, etc.
