Developer Jake Palillo has a total of 270 acres of farmland on Hwy. 73 in Huntersville under contract with tentative plans to build a new-wave resort called Crystal Lagoons.
“This is the newest type of development in the country today,” said Palillo, the developer behind Bailey’s Glen in Cornelius and Symphony Park, which is underway in Huntersville.
The new, as-yet-unnamed project would include commercial, retail and residential components between Hwy. 115 and Mayes Road near Westmoreland Road.
They have one coming to Columbia SC. Glad this will be closer!
Thanks for the heads up about the one coming to Columbia; I confess my surprise: Greenville would've been a much better location, including a mountain view. I am surprised they didn't go to Greenville.
Initially, people bandied about the idea of bringing a water feature in and around Downtown CLT; apparently, that idea was cost and/or space prohibitive.
I don't know about building this closer to downtown. Who would the get to pull out the bodies on Monday mornings? I hope this happens (not the body thing, the project itself).

There's nothing stopping them from building one in Greenville too if they want to. It's not like there's a state quota in place or something.
I hope that the admission is somewhat steep so people that poop and **** in public swimming venues can't afford to enter. It was a problem when they opened Lake Norman (Bailey Road) up to the public and bussed people in a few years ago.
