How does everyone feel about Davidson? It seems walkable, bikeable and close to amenities.
Nice area, college town, safe, traffic iffy, snobby, liberal, descent restaurants and bars, walkable if central, historic (somewhat), 30 minutes to Charlotte International or downtown Charlotte. I prefer Cornelius personally.

If you're willing to look at cities smaller than Charlotte, I highly recommend you look at Belmont, NC, (the town, not the section of Charlotte).

Traffic congestions is about the same from Harris blvd all the way to Mooresville, so AM is spot on with Cornelius being the sweetspot.
