For those interested, Sewing Arts Studio on Pineville Matthews Road is closing for business and is liquidating all inventory of fabric and Babylock machines starting tomorrow. I will be checking it out for fabric, sewing notions and Babylock machines.
Sewing shops are few and far between in Charlotte. You might check out the Hancock Stores - there's one at Windsor Square in Matthews. They've recently expanded their line and might have what you are looking for. There is also a Bernina store in Stonecrest. They have a limited amount of sewing supplies.
There used to be a great little shop behind the Park Road Rd SC but she closed to sell on line. I don't know how to contact her on line. There is also a shop way, way out Independence that sells Janome Sewing machines and has some sewing supplies. I believe they cater mostly to quilters and machine embroiderers. Check them out to be sure.
I'll check it out. I'm TRYING to learn how to sew...although my efforts so far have only resulted in tangled thread.
There's a Hancock's on South Blvd. too.
If your thread is getting tangled, it sounds like you don't have your tension set correctly on your machine. Hope that helps...FYI, Mary Jo's is offering sewing classes...also Joanns Fabrics on S. Blvd has alot of items you may be looking for...good luck!
^ It's been five years since that post. Maybe she's figured it out by now.
