IMO, the food tends to be over-priced for what you get - a pretty poor marketing plan for trying to encourage consumer trial. It's as if some of the vendors are using the event to make a profit, as opposed to using it as an investment to generate new, long-lasting customers.
I think they have to pay the even organizers something, so that's part of the reason. I hate the use of tokens to buy stuff though. Eight years ago I attended a big event in Canada and you bought cards and put a dollar amount on them and then used them like a debit card at the vendor booths. Much more efficient and easier on all involved. That was eight years ago. This is one area where Charlotte is way behind the times.

Groove, I don't mind the token system too much, (it's quicker than cash; probably reduces theft etc), but when you have spent $20-worth of tokens and you are still hungry because you've only sampled 4 items, then there's a problem.
It's sad because the interest is clearly there, but you'd probably be better off taking your money to a downtown restaurant.

Yes, and before you could get I think 25 tokens for $20...this year $20 will get you 15 tokens...which won't get you much. What I'm saying is that if you were able buy an electronic card specifically for the event, it would be much easier. Kinda like the cards some enterntainment centers give you which can be used for video games, etc.
We bring our own beverages even though you're not supposed to. Like you said, worse that will happen is we will have to leave and spend our money elsewhere.
