Per an article in today's Monroe Enquirer/Journal, UCPS ranked No. 1 in school test scores, among the nine largest school systems in North Carolina with 51.1 % meeting the federal No Child Left Behind’s Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) standards. UCPS is the sixth-largest school system in the state. To compare, CharMeck (2nd largest) had 22.8% of their schools meet the standard, and Gaston (7th largest) had 24.5%

Schools of Excellence included (90 to 100% at or above grade level and met AYP)

Those numbers looked like last years numbers because they included growth... and growth has not been released... so I am not sure those are totally accurate. Let's look at the paper tomorrow to be sure. I will say I only looked in passing, so I could be off.
