We just moved here and are looking for a church to attend. We like the contemporary Christian, laid back, contemporary music, praise band, entertaining pastor, etc. No screaming, holy rollers, speaking in tongue type things, not to offend anyone, just not our thing. We are in Monroe and would like something as close as possible. We have a ten year old and a five year old, so something that is geared towards children also.
There is plenty of churches in the region . Ideally you want something that is also close to home. Drive around and see what is in your area then you can google that church and see what it is about if you are unclear
There are many churches fitting the description you mentioned. I don't know where you live in Monroe, but if you are on the north side of town there are many good choices straight up 74 from Monroe. I have heard good things about Elevation Church, The Threshold and Charlotte South Fellowship to name a few(all in the Matthews/Stallings area). These all meet your criteria. I would google each and check out their websites.
I have dozens of friends there who LOVE it and it is changing their lives.
We prefer something much more old school, but I would never criticize a church where the Bible is taught.
Elevation is growing like crazy and everyone I know there is thrilled - check it out.
If you are in Monroe, I recommend the following couple of choices; first Next Level Welcome to Next Level Church (http://www.nextlevelchurch.org/products/powerWeb/site/index.php - broken link)
Super laid back and contemporay.... and second Southbrook Southbrook | Welcome to Southbrook Community Church They have a new satelite service in Monroe, but the drive to Wesley Chapel wouldn't be too awful for you if you aren't in to the video thing. Good luck.
Thanks everyone for the information, they all sound great. We will try them out and see what they have to offer. I am so excited. We love it here, we have great neighbors, have a great neighborhood and I start a new job Tuesday, a good church would be the icing on the cake. Praise the Lord.
If want to head toward the Northern part of Charlotte (University/Mallard Creek) try Mecklenburg Community Church on Brown Rd (near the intersection with DeArmon) Brown Rd turns into Sugar Creek if you head towards WT Harris Blvd. They do the services remote somewhere in Lake Norman also.
