Can you ride you're mountain bike on the roads without some moron trying to kill you? California isn't always too bike friendly.

It's best to ride within about 8 miles of the center of uptown. Much further than that and the roads and traffic are not real friendly. But you can live in a lot of nice areas within that 8 mile radius!

No. The roads in most parts of Meck and Union Co. were not designed with bikers in mind. In fact, I wince everytime a see a biker out in five o'clock traffic.

Hey there indraman! So good to "see" you You are right, out in the county and for sure in Union county itself the roads are not wide enough for bikes and cars. But on the city streets closer to the inner part of Charlotte many people do bike

The greenways are great to ride on, but I'd never ride on Mecklenburg's roads.

I lived south in Ballantyne for 6 months last year, biking in that area and south of there was fine. You can also have a nice route into the city (about 20 miles). We looked north of the city, it wasn't well connected, and had narrow busy roads...

I wouldn't consider riding any bike in any large city. I was thinking of the more outlying areas

The outlying areas are really not a place to bike due to many have narrow shoulders or speed limits above 35. However mention above Greenways are a good place, subdivisions (some are rather large) and buisness parks are good or one of the parks , Latta Plantation is excellent for biking.

So you don't mean for commuting to work? You mean just for exercise? In that case, you could ride on the greenways around the city - McAlpine Greenway is one of the longest I believe.
