I was just surfing for fishing in Charlotte and came across this on the CharMech.org website

"Fishing License Information
A North Carolina State Fishing License is required for all anglers ages 16 and older. For more details on how and where to purchase a North Carolina State Fishing License to be directed to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission website or you can reach them by phone at 888-248-6834. North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission Wildlife Officers enforce fishing license regulations.

Does this mean i can't just go to the lakes and go fishing without a license?
Is the License thing only for State Own Parks?
Are there any locations in South Charlotte or Lake Wylie you can fish with out a License?

Thank you In Advance

You will need a license to fish on public waters.
It only around 15 bucks for a year can be done online from that website you provided

Same thing for South Carolina but the license may cost you more to get a non resident license unless you plant to live in sc

Ohh Man that sucks.
Was going to take a friend visiting fishing tomorrow but i guess its too late to get the license now.
Guess i would have to get a Non-resident license for my friend too.
No fishing for me tomorrow then.

Thanks

You can get a license in a lot of locations today. If you have a Walmart near you, they can do it immediately.

Be careful of your location on the lake as it is located in both NC and SC. Determine where you are going to fish on the lake and get the appropriate license. Also be aware that the Department of Fish and game is very active on the lake.

You can buy your fishing or hunting license online!

They give you a temporary card that you need to printout, then mail you the real one.

No need to buy a license for the whole year if it's only going to be used for a couple of days...there are 10 day (I think it's 10 day) licenses available. That will. of course, cost less. We got my daughter and SIL their licenses that way at Walmart and only took a few minutes.
