my husband and I will be moving to the Charlotte area soon. He will be working in Pageland, SC but I really liked what I heard about Charlotte and all that there is to do around there. From what I saw on the map, the areas in between Charlotte and Pageland, SC are Mint Hill, Matthews, Stalings, and Indian Trail. Does anyone have any advice on these areas? Any other neighborhoods in that area that I missed but should consider? Also, we have a toddler and being near parks and driving distance to all kinds of fun things are important so are we getting too far away from everything if we go in that direction? Thanks.!!!!

Really with the price of gas I'd say you should live in Pageland - it's a nice little town. Mint Hill and Indian Trail are great, but he'd have about a 35 mile commute - 70 miles round trip each day! If you just have to get closer to Charlotte I'd suggest south Monroe. Oh, and Pageland is the Watermelon Capital - great festival there every year
Monroe might be a good option, some areas there are nicer than others, just stay out of "downtown" Monroe, Union County schools (some better than others, look before you buy), and still close enough to parks/shopping etc of Charlotte
We live in Monroe and our children go to the Porter Ridge schools and we love it and they love it. Pageland is not too far, we have been there before. There is shopping here and you are close enough to Charlotte for anything else that you need. My husband drives to Wadesboro everyday, which is about 45 minutes away and with the gas and the commute, he says it got old really fast.
