Diamonds Direct also price matches online retailers like bluenile.com
I saved about $350 extra dollars this way.
Plus, if you buying an engagement ring, the mounting is free (gold or white gold).
AND...lets say you pay $5000 for a ring today. And want to upgrade your wife in 3 years. The trade in value they'll give you in $5000. Your ring doesn't depreciate with them.

When I turned 30 DH said he needed to trade me in on a newer model, somehow I have made it 13 more years.
I'm a diamond freak and it's a little bit of a hobby learning about them (not buying right now bc of this freakin recession)...There is so much involved in getting a good stone...most importantly is cut...and so much goes into that....so I'm a fan of small jewelers who will take the time to educate and inform you...I have been dealing with Matthews Towne Jewelers and a gentleman named Jeff...I find their prices are really fair...I also am a huge fan of online shopping with a select bunch of stores ... Goodoldgold.com, whiteflash, engagementringsdirect (cushion experts!).....all three have lifetime 100% Upgrades
But for the love of god, DiamondsDirect price matches Blue Nile...that doesn't say much since Blue Nile is SOOOO overpriced....I found my own stone on blue nile and had engagementringsdirect (Mark) get it in for me...it was several thousands cheaper.... of course, I lived in NYC at the time and was able to personally inspect it...any good jeweler could do the same here...they pull stones from online databases...
I don't know about buying diamonds online, there is still something about being able to hold and look at the way a diamond sparkles with your own eyes. By all means shop ALL the online stores but Diamonds Direct will match them all.
There's a difference between "mall stores" and "mall CHAIN stores".
I avoid the mall chain jewelry stores like the plague, with their snotty 20-something girls who are only behind the counter to flirt with the guys shopping for engagement rings.
I highly recommend Perry's in South Park Mall. Mr. Perry is there himself to help you.
I totall agree BZEP...except that I've been part of an online diamond learning forum for years and have 3 specific online vendors that I've come to know personally and have done business with...so that's really the extent of my online shopping...
