Can anyone recommend a deck installer in the Charlotte area?

What kind of deck did you get and how much did it cost?

Many of them only work for builders and they know how to build a good simple deck.

If you want custom and elaborate I would ask some lumber supply stores for names and ask to see their work.

Most of the deck builders have learned how to meet code in recent years.

There were thousands of decks built in the 70's and 80's by framers and handymen that are really dangerous.

When a deck is used for a large party, the loading is extreme and the construction has to be above the level of what just looks good.

A properly built and cosmetically nice deck will be very expensive.
It is recommended to use the composite decking boards for the floor and the top of the rails unless you want to put $30 worth of water seal on the wood every 2 months.

The gaps between the rails must be slightly less than four inches to meet code. A document that shows a typical deck is on pahi.org. http://www.pahi.org/how_to_build_a_r...tial_deck.html

www.carolinadeckpros.com did my deck and pergola for me. Excellent job and great to work with. A little pricier maybe but they show up and get it done.

Here's my deck on their website.

Davis Decks did mine and did a great job. I called them out for service recently and they came the next day and fixed the problem without issue.

As always, I recommend NARI - National Association of The Remodeling Industry as a starting point.
