I was wondering does anyone know what airlines fly DIRECT from Charlotte to Ft. Lauderdale, FL? I was hoping to find a budget airline like AirTran, JetBlue or Spirit.
It seems like all the ones I checked have weird layovers. Jet Blue, for example makes you fly to New York (JFK) before flying South. USAIR makes you stop in Atlanta for 1/2 the day and costs a ton. Which makes me wonder if its only a 10 hour drive why should it take 8 hours to fly there :-) Thanks!
I'm not sure how expensive they are currently... but I do remember getting a pretty good deal from Charlotte to Ft. Lauderdale several months ago. I also took a direct flight... do they not fly direct to Ft. Lauderdale anymore?
I fly from Ft.Lauderdale to Charlotte once a month. My flight is always $212 round trip, non-stop (1hr 45min each way). I book my travel through YAHOO. I have been doing this for the past year.

Thanks! Is that on USAIR? Last time I looked I guess there were no available direct flights... but then again it was spring break week. I just looked again today on their site and see there are a few direct ones.
Check out sidestep.com which is pretty good. Another new app that I've been playing with is tripstalker. It goes and checks prices all day to look for fluctuations that fit your budget and notifies you if a flight has become available in your price range.
Atlanta is a hub for Delta and Air Tran, so you'd have to make a layover for those 2...
USAir has many non-stops to FLL daily (at least 9), as Charlotte is one of their main hubs and FLL is a 'city of interest' or whatever they call it ... Somewhat of a mini-mini hub... If you purchasein advance you'll get a nice price.
I was just looking @ travelocity.com and it does look like Delta, AirTran, and Northwest (through Detroit- too out of the way IMO!) have the best rates right now.

Yes, USAir. I fly the same flight numbers everytime, I think the flight attendants are beginning to know me by my first name now...LOL...

I had to fly from Ft. Lauderdale to San Diego a couple years ago. The first leg of that trip was a direct flight to Charlotte, where I had a layover. I then flew direct from there to San Diego. Long story short: yes, you can fly direct from Ft. Lauderdale to Charlotte. It was either United or U.S. Airways (they work jointly on some of their flights so I can't remember which airline I got my ticket through.
I am a travel agent, I live in Miami and I am moving to Charlotte. I've flown several times to CLT over the last couple of months. I have taken some flights from FLL on USAirways, nontop, usually at around $220 roundtrip. If you want to drive south, to Miami, you can fly nonstop with AA, same price, around $220 roundtrip. No budget airline flights from So Fl to CLT.
