Hi! This question may have been asked before, but I couldn't find anything about it...

Are there any annual food and/or chocolate festivals in Charlotte? You know, like "Taste of Chicago" or the "Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival" in San Francisco? We have smaller-scale versions of those two festivals here in Phoenix every year (food/beer fest in the spring, chocolate fest Valentine's weekend), although they're not small...just smaller, in comparison to the festivals in Chicago and San Fran. You buy tickets (each ticket costs a buck or so) and then you go around to the different booths, and trade tickets for sample portions of different foods from area restaurants/confectioners. So much fun!

Anything like that in Charlotte, or nearby?

Yes, we have Taste of Charlotte and one other one....shoot, I'll have to look them up for you!

EDIT: Here you go-- http://www.tasteofcharlotte.com/

Also, other posters can help me out, but I think there is one during Charlotte Shout in the fall. Also, it's worth a drive to the Lexington BBQ Festival in the fall, too! It's only like an hour's drive...

the Yassou Festival in the fall on East Blvd. Greek Festival. I like stopping at lexington style trimmings in lexington after festival to get bbq to take home you can get a pound of bbq pint of slaw, dozen of buns for 10 bucks. and it will feed about 5 . They have a unique way of serving you too. Just honk your horn and a server will come to your car. LUV IT

Yes, Charlotte Shout is a huge time for festivals. There's the Culinary Arts Experience in the Gateway Center that has a lot of celebrity chefs from the Food Channel and there's also the Blues Brews and BBQ festival, which was held in South End last year. Also that time of year there is the Festival in the Park event, which isn't a food festival, per se, but its the largest and oldest festival the city hosts.

I love Taste of Charlotte! That's where I first discovered Carolina Blonde several years ago (the local beer with the lighthouse on the label)

Isn't there a Greek Festival in Charlotte? I can't remember what month but I recall hearing that the food was fabulous.

Oh man, THAT is my favorite!!! It is held on the grounds of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church on East Blvd the first full weekend every September. I highly recommend folks go for the wonderful, authenic food cooked by all the grandmothers and ladies of the parish - YUM!
