All, I'm looking for a place to run stairs in the Dilworth/Sedgefield area. I've tried to find a few high schools, but they either don't have large bleachers around the football field or they have the gates locked.

In Indy and Kansas City I had no issues finding large high school football stadiums to use, but haven't found much here.

I would prefer that it’s 15 minutes from the Sedgefield area.

How 'bout Memorial Stadium at 7th and Independence/Charlottetown?

I'm sure KC is the superior "stair-running" city. We can't have it all...

It sounds like you want to do this outside but have you looked at any office buildings in your area? Ususally you can get into and out of the stairwell on the first floor. Depending on the building Security may not even look twice at you, the Wackenhut guy in our building sleeps at his desk.

Memorial Stadium came to mind, too. Have you considered parking garages? I know it's not the safest place, probably, but maybe if you ran with someone it would be OK. In college for rowing we always ran stairs in one of the parking garages on campus. Up 4 flights, over to the next stairwell, and down 4 flights. Makes a nasty circuit. Does Johnson C. Smith have parking garages? I think it's over in that area. Good luck in your search!

Thanks for the info. I looked at the satellite view on Google maps and Memorial Stadium should work if it's open to the public to get inside.

I drove by there at lunch time and noticed it was fenced.

Maybe they keep it open though. Good luck.

Memorial Stadium is not open to the public. I ended up finding a nearby High School with some large bleachers (EE Waddell High School). It's not in the best neighborhood, but the High School actually looks newly re-modeled.
