It's the South.
We were taught to say yes ma'am & no ma'am, and pray before we eat or drive in circles.

It just went on and on for quite some time, and then the Anthem was played. Just curious one doesn't know unless they ask.
I can't recall anything like this before any recent races, so I can't speak to this specific incident. They do have prayer before each race starts, and some of them can be a bit lengthy by the time they thank all the sponsors and - oh wait, that's Michael Waltrip But some of them do get very detailed about what they pray for. That is really the only "religious" aspect that is typically televised before a race. There is a group that pretty much follows the circuit with the drivers and offers a Sunday morning service for the drivers, crew members and their families, but this is not televised.

Y'all forgot the fly over after the anthem!

Every race, benediction, anthem, fly over and then the most famous words in motorsports.

Here's a NASCAR crashes video, always fun to watch.

I have ran into a few- most recently Sam Hornish Jr at Lowes and Jeff Gordon's wife and daughter at a restaurant. I used to live across from Michael Waltrip's shop so I would see him coming and going frequently as well as a few of the other drivers.
I used to deal with crewmen a lot since I work at a local car dealership. Sign of the economy- I rarely see any anymore. I also come in contact with some Panthers players- but I wouldn't know it if the guys didn't tell me, LOL.

Jeff gordon likes this little mexican place and comes in sometimes. He likes his liquier and gets a little loud mouth after a couple of drinks buts thats ok. The most famous driver I ever saw out in public was when he was sitting outside of a grocery store .His name was Dale Earnheart. I know a guy who used to be on Buddy Bakers pit crew and another friend who used to go fishing with legend TINY LUND...Once jeff gordon pulled up in a brand new lamborgini and the valet runs up and says"Can I park it for you Mr Gordon"? His answer was a big "HELL NO" true story
