Are any of you aware if there are any building codes or other regulations that specify a maximum slope for driveways? (In general, or particularly Mecklenburg County).
I called the town of Huntersville a couple years ago regarding this same issue. I recall there was a state guideline, but I can't recall the specific number. It was insanely high, I believe in the range of 12% to 14%. Many cars would "bottom out" at such an approach angle. The person I spoke with told me the large allowable slope was probably so people in the mountainous regions could still have concrete driveways. I am not sure if the town or county has since adopted a more restrictive limit.
Bottoming out will depend on the difference between the road transverse slope (cross-ways) and the driveway's longitudinal slope (long-ways). The bigger concern is safety of the vehicle pulling in/out of the driveway and of course parking on it.
