Cool here as well

Yes, we got scary strong winds as well.

I was on the computer and the sun was shining then suddenly it went dark and the wind started blowing.

Same thing happened to me, computering and chatting w/dad on the phone and next thing I know huge clouds are blowing in. I did take Labby out right away for a walk and a quick splash in play with the hose and his new pool.

Under a severe thunderstorm watch.

Had my umbrella up today, by my sunroom windows, to cut down the heat coming in....we were eating dinner, I saw it got dark all of a sudden, just finished saying, outloud, "as soon as I'm done eating I'll need to go out and put that umbrella down", then came the big noise, umbrella had taken off, with my table in tow, snapped the umbrella (#3 in the 2 yrs I've been here) but didn't hurt the table, moved it a good bit though. No more umbrellas for me. There's like a wind tunnel that goes through the side of my house there!
No rain here though, and it was sunny again 5 min later!

We had a gazebo over the patio that was blown away with the last storm. We had three of the legs staked into the earth and the fourth leg on the concret patio with a 50 pound bag of sand tied to it. Storm came in and ripped it from the ground.
Our neighbors had an offset umbrella, which was closed, and it didn't move. So, we decided that an umbrella was the way to go. We just got the umbrella but haven't set it up yet because of these storms. I've got to find a good way to weigh it down and secure it.

Coastalgirl - I was up and down at the computer and wasn't on CD yesterday when you posted this - but I had posted the same observation on Facebook!!! It got really windy at my house - and dark - then nothing really happened!! Four or five of my friends posted their situations around the city - and it rained North but nothing much at all in any of the south areas.

I ended up going outside and watering plants last evening - but at 5:30 - I was thinking a storm was headed our way!!!

Weather radio never went off . . .
