Yeah I could always move back to the UK and pay 15% Value Added Tax

I love that everyone flocked here to get away from what they didn't like about New England but they continued to vote the same way...now we are the way it was back in New England. I moved here from New England 5 years ago to get to a SANE more conservative State. When I first moved here...low taxes and even Christmas was still on the school calendar...wow, things can change quickly!

IMO, the voting patterns have a lot less to do with fiscal issues than social issues. There used to be a lot of socially moderate Republicans from New England, but now they are pretty much an extinct breed...not just in NE, but nationally. You'll see NC and other similar continue to get more and more blue - not so much because the Democrats deserve it, but because of generational and demographic changes that are relegating the Republican party in its current state to a regional player.
