I have no problem with that. If Ronald Reagan can have a school named after him, then I think its fitting to have a school named after Obama!

You were the one that made inflammatory remarks about Yankees and transplants ruining the they way things are done in the south, did you think that you were going to get away with that remark?

I thought I heard on the radio where Mint Hill was a temporary name/placeholder until the school board came up with the real name. I am not 100% though.

Thanks so much for this info. I cannot believe that the person actually representing the Mint Hill area voted in favor of this plan. I can't wait for elections!

Rather than wait for the elections, why not contact your school board representative and ask them for the rationale behind their vote. That way, you'll get the info directly without someone's else's twist and you can make an informed decision about what's best for you/your family.

The following school board members voted for the current plan:
Joe White, Molly Griffith, Trent Merchant, James Ross, Kimberly Mitchell-Walker and Tom Tate.
These 3 voted no - Kaye McGarry, Larry Gavreau, and Ken Gjertson

I know Mr. Tate, Mr. Ross, and Ms. Mitchell-Edwards are up for re-election this fall. They are all district reps. Ms.Griffin, Mr. Gauvrea and Mr. Gjertson are not running for re-election.

I dont' think any of the "at-large" seats is up this fall.

I believe Tom Tate is the rep for the Mint Hill area. Why he voted in favor of that plan makes no sense to me.
