Is there anything really special that we should try when we come down?

(Bonus points if it's affordable. )

Show Mars is Locally own, they are pretty good.

THe Township Grille has Buffalo Wing which are excellent, they are in the Matthews Township.

Try BBQ is good but someone more expereienced should advise you on where to eat that. BBQ is a food, not a cooking method here.

Enjoy your visit.

There used to be a great show on the Time-Warner Public Access channel called "Food Stories"

http://www.foodstories.com/

where the host would travel to local area restaurants and profile two or three each week. We learned about a lot of the restaurants we now frequent as a result of that show. There are some similar shows on PBS and Turner South, but they profile either across the state or across an entire region.

It would be nice to see another similar show on the air.

We don't seem to be in the majority but when we visited, we really liked O'Charley's. The location we visited even had "kids eat free". We thought the food and service were great.

Thanks everyone. "Pssghettis" is cracking me up.

A few I found on the internet - let me know if you've tried them and what you think:

The Penguin
1921 Commonwealth Avenue
Charlotte NC 28205

http://www.penguindrivein.com/ (broken link)

GREEN'S LUNCH, 309 W. Fourth St.; 704-332-1786

PRICE'S CHICKEN COOP, 1614 Camden Road; 704-333-9866

ROASTING COMPANY, 1601-A Montford Drive; 704-521-8188

....Also, do you have any of those restaurants where the girls roller skate to your car? LOL. I've never taken my kids to one of those and they'd probably think it was pretty cool. I went to one when I was little - except, I don't think they had roller skates. Anyway, it's a special memory for some reason

I notice pssghettis has not updated there website because it says coming to huntersville and they have been there for about 5 months.

It is definite a great family restaurant and something I never heard of before is that they offer shuttle service. Im sure it will do all the local hotels but they even come to your house to take you to dinner.
I was expecting it to be a high end restaurant because they really went over the top with the decor but was very affordable.

Price's Chicken Coup is pushing it location wise. It's cheap and ok, however, the neighborhood is rough.

The roller skate resturants are Sonic's Drive In, There are several, I think they are growing just about as fast as "THE COOKOUT".
