I am a physical education/health wanting to get off this island. How are the schools in regard to running good physical education programs ? What is the dating-scene like for us in our forties? What are the pro and cons of moving to Charlotte ? I'm a outdoors kind of person ! The island is too expensive, crowded and arrogant. If you know what I'm saying, please give me some honest feedback !

My two cents:

Pros

Probably less traffic for you
People are nicer
Housing is cheaper
Plenty of outdoors stuff to do within a close proximty

Cons

High unemployment rate
High sales tax

Unless you can go without a job for a while, you really want to secure employment before you get here.

Don't do it! They hate "Yankees" ! We "Yankees" are not humans or people to alot of locals of NC! I moved back to Long Island one year ago this month! Its really not much cheaper to live down there..only property taxes and house prices. Although I did love the schools down there! With one exception, the only nice people I met were former NYers or northeners! I-77 has really bad traffic..taking my hubby 3 hrs to go from Mooresville to Charlotte at times. I think dating-wise you'll do ok. Join a newcomers group or a former NYer's group!

Now be fair, if it ever takes anyone 3 HOURS to go from Mooresville to Charlotte it's because there has been some major accident, which does not happen every day Yes, traffic heading north of the lake is heavy, too heavy for my tastes too, but 3 hours is not gonna happen very often.

That is a false statement if I ever heard one. Yes housing and property taxes are cheaper, a lot cheaper. But so is insurance, both homeowners and auto, electric is much cheaper and so is gas, both natural and for your car.
I was paying 8000/yr property taxes on LI - here 2000.
I was paying 2500/yr auto insurance - here 1250
Homeowners Ins was 1200 -here 480
My last electric bill with the A/C running was 150/month. That was a winter bill with LIPA.
Gas is around 30-40 cents a gallon cheaper
And this is on a 3000sf house on 1/3 acre.
I will say that water is about the only thing that is more expensive than LI. Here for most of the year it is 30/month and during the summer it can reach 100 or more if you water your lawn a lot.
And I am sorry, but like another poster said, 3hrs for that drive had to involve a wreck with lanes shut down. The traffic is nothing compared to the LIE.

Default How to win friends and influence people

Here's the plan. OP says something about "arrogance" (which i think is ppl..right?) Wants to get away from them. This poster advises join your former arrogant neighbor in CLT. In addition, that wasn't good enough for me so I moved back to L.I. to be with your former arrogant neighbors.

My suggestion: Start a meet-up group. Here are some ideas:
ie: Former arrogant NY'ers that want to be passive in CLT.
Formerly arrogant, went passive and now wish to return to former self.
Confused minds that are part Gandi and part Tyson.
I left my aggression in LI.Parents in CLT that need a fix.
Learning to drive without road rage.
