I am actually in Charlotte, close to uptown. They mostly care to inforce parking and garbage rools, otherwise...whoever doesn't grow flowers just might be declared a villain...they call it 'beautification'. Like most urban communities we have very little green space, and sod looks awful. I don't think we in the community are quite ready for carrot fields instead, but it's getting there....
we gather a lot and vote on this and that, it might be a good idea to talk to the President or Vice president of Homowners Association.

So perhaps if I end up living in Huntersville, Cornelius or Davidson, they'll be a bit more lenient about a veggie garden, huh?

Bermuda sod seems to grow on just about anything. Once the roots get going it's tough stuff to get rid of and will grow right out and over a cement walkway.

Probably.. Even raised beds can get you in trouble since in some developments they're considered a permanent planter/lot modification, which in our HOA requires approval.

All depends on your neighborhood and neighbors. Some people walk around looking for infractions to report. Some HOA's enforce more than others. A lot of folks have done stuff in our neighborhood without approval and all is good so far but if we get a board in that decides that the rules need to be enforced then there's gonna be a lot of whining and paperwork going around.

We looked at all the things that we couldn't live without and if they were not allowed for a neighborhhod then we looked elsewhere.
