How often should I be watering.? .I've heard everything from every other day to three times a day. Not watering tomorrow ...damn...those seeds better hang tight.

Hey - we just did this in our back yard... you really need to try moss on top - it helps keep moisture in and it protects it from the birds from stealing it! Good luck and I would say water about 2 -3 times a day for about 10 minutes (per section)

I heard moss is good but more in the summer..its not hot enough now to lose much moisture. As for the birds, for that I agree. ...2 to 3 a day for how long?

we put straw on top and water once a day. it's supposed to rain tomorrow, so you don't need to worry.

not if you have something on top, and if it's a slow rain. the seeds will soak it right up!

question for the moss people: is that the strangely green poopy looking stuff? my neighbor put something on a dead spot that looks like that. i was wondering what it was.

The whole point when you first put down seed is to keep it damp until the grass starts to grow. Depending on temperature, sun, shade, cloudy, etc water as necessary to keep it moist until the grass starts to grow. Once it begins to grow water thoroughly every few days. The reason the pace the watering once grass begins to grow is as the soil drys the grass will force roots to grow deeper in search of water. Also don't forget to fertilize. Just like everything else, grass needs food just as much as it needs water.

Good luck. Hopefully tomorrows downpour won't wash it all away.
