I've had some damage to my home from a minor plumbing problem and I am using a company called Service Master. I'm a little concerned because they seem to be moving really slow and I'm questioning the methods they used to dry my floors. I have exposed subfloors, some with nails protruding up and a laundry room rendered useless. Everything is dry now and the repair work can begin but it hasn't.

I have heard from some other professionals that it should never have taken over 7 days to dry out from the minor plumbing leak I had. When describing the methods SM used to dry out, I've heard that it was not optimal and that is the reason it took so long to dry out. My insurance company is refusing to pay for that long of "remediation" time and equipment. I'm sure they think it should have also taken only 3 days. Things are sort of frozen while SM and my insurance haggle.

I have never used this company before until now. I feel like they are dragging their feet. Perhaps I am just being too impatient. Has anyone else used this company? Should I be concerned? I'm at the point where I can pay them for what they've done and hire someone else to finish... would you do?

Sorry for the long note, but I felt I needed to explain for valuable feedback.

Service Master is a franchise and there are at 3 or 4 franchises in the metro area, most of them are pretty good. I would ask to speak with the owner. It doesn't sound like they did anything incorrectly. I suspect they want to replace a section of floor and your insurance company want them do something less expensive.

I am the owner of one of the franchises for ServiceMaster. I don't know if this is a loss my company is taking care of for you, but whether it is my franchise or not, I am more than happy to help you with this. I have sent you an invite to be a friend. respond back to me, I will give you my cell and try and get you taken care of.
