Asking a person 'Where Are You From" and asking a person "What Are You" are two different questions entirely. Where are you from is quite common around here as we all know. IMHO 'what are you' is rude.

I was born and raised here and I do realize some people will ask 'you ain't from 'round here are you' ... I find that rude too.

Charlotte is a very diverse city with many cultures. Not at all what I expected from a southern city. I believe that if you are nice to people then you will get that back from most people. I have family and friends that are Jamacia, Asian, Caucasian, and Hispanic whom I love and I choose to spend time with on a regular basis. Even the church that my hubby and I plan to join is multicultural as well as the community that we live in. We are more alike than different because we're all the same inside and the outward differences only make use more interesting. I love experiencing different cultures foods, music, art, customs, and religion. Anybody who judges others based upon their race is not anyone that I would respect or care to befriend anyway.
