Brrr it was cold pumping gas. I thought about hopping in the car while I wait but was afraid I would ended up causing some big fire and that not how I want my 3 minutes of fame frome the potential static,

I miss full service stations

on a related note they need to ban smoking on service station parking lots.
I was getting ready to get some kerosene
which the pumps are by side walks and here comes some dude walking by just smoking away

Wanna trade? Full service gas stations are one of the few perks of living in NJ.

The guys on Myth Busters did a show on if static electricity or cell phones will cause a fire at a gas station. It's a 2 parter.

So move . . . I'm sure there's lots of houses for sale since they've all moved here . (And before anyone snarks back at me, I'm just kidding )

LOL. It's not *that* cold here! It's 35 degrees here! I'd rather suffer here for a few minutes getting gas in 30 degree weather than suffer trying to warm up a car in NJ in 0 degree weather!!

I'd rather suffer here for a few minutes. . . than suffer living in NJ--period.

I hate self-serve at gas stations. I paid extra for years to have someone pump my gas in cold weather, lol. Would still do it if only it were offered.

And btw - NJ is a beautiful state and there are lots of places there that I would enjoy living, especially near "the shore." Too bad taxes are so high. I have quite a few friends who feel they were "run out of" their state b/c of high cost of living. That is just plain sad.

One of the perks of living in NJ was to befriend the gas station owner and he'll turn his head when you pump your own gas.

Otherwise, you get some guy who couldn't give a rats *ss about your car slamming the nozzle in there, sometimes chipping paint along the way and then spilling gas down the fenders on the way out.

No thanks! Another reason that living 27 years was way too long in that state.

Now I am sure to fill up in Delaware or PA before I cross into NJ. Then I do my darndest to make it back out before I have to fill up again.

(Not to be a total curmudgeon, I do miss parts of the state though, including living on the shore, pork roll / cheese on a hard roll, and strolling the boardwalk after dinner each summer night.)
