All,

I will be relocating to Charlotte, NC in the summer of 2008 and looking to buy a new contruction home in Union County. From reading vaious posts about Union County in NC, it appears to me that good areas to live in Union County are Waxhaw, Marvin and Weddington. I am looking for a new home at $200K or less. I was in Charlotte 3 weeks ago checking things out and love the Ballantyne area alot. Unfortunately houses in Ballantyne are way above my price range. I am assuming this area is for wealthy families. Since I can't afford to buy in Ballantyne and I also like Union. I would like to buy in Union but not too far from Ballantyne and Charlotte as I will be working in Uptown Charlotte. What areas in Union County do you recommend? Thanks and lookking forward for your feedback.

To stay under $200K you ought to consider Indian Trail as well. You'll have a very tough time staying under $200K in Marvin, Weddington and Waxhaw for new construction.

Default Don't know if this is pushing the budget, but ...

My apt. complex in Ballantyne is near Ballantyne Meadows, an adorable neighborhood w/ little single family craftsman-style homes. They are CUTE AS A BUTTON. Here is MLS for one: 671968. I walk my dog through the neighborhood just about every day, and it's the sweetest little development. Good luck.

Default developments

You will have to go further out for a single home. my development is St. John's forest and is only mins. from Weddington and Marvin. It is a KB development and prices start at $150 and go up to $280 I believe.

A lot can change in a year; who knows what will be on the market in 2008. It is possible (possible...the exception not the rule) though to find a modest home in Ballantyne in the low 200s. Keep an eye on Edinburgh. It's a cute little subdivision backing up to Ballantyne Country Club. It's between Johnston Road and Old Lancaster Hwy off Providence Road West. There are several on the market there now, lowest priced $208.

I agree, for resales there may be options, but I thought original poster indicated new construction, so that's why I replied how I did

Lightbulb Condos

Since alot of everyone went off topic. You could get a first floor condo for under 200k in Ballantyne, Belle Vista... three minute walk to Ballantyne Village.

Hei, you'll be working Uptown Charlotte, I recommend Uptown Charlotte.
well, NOda condos?...or if you Really get down to earth with price/value..then, oh don't listen to me, I don't like new construction.
a home that's been there for 50 years will probably be there for another 50.
