The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra will be playing several free outdoor concerts throughout the summer. We were planning to take some out-of-town guests to enjoy the music. Any advice on what to bring? How early should we arrive before the show? Can we bring a bottle of wine and something to snack on? Any ideas?
Thanks so much!

The summer Pops in the Park are great! We haven't been in a couple of years, but from what I can recall, many folks would go out morning of show and put out blankets to reserve spots, it is generally very crowded. Wine and snacks are a must, makes for a great summer evening activity!

You can bring as much or as little as you like. I am getting a group together and we are bringing those chairs that fold up in a bag, and a fold up table, food and wine....some people get elaborate with candles and tablecloths and some bring a blanket only. Anything goes.

But YES get there early because it is really hard to get a spot!!

Now that's something I'd like to see myself. Where is it?

Yeah I could see that...half the people there would want to pal around with me and the other half would want to strangle me.

Yes indeed, blankets, and you even see some chairs too. Its funny to ride by there early before the event and see all the stuff spread out on the field. That's where Charlotte seems to have a more "small town" feel; the fact that people would leave property out there like that and know that no one is going to bother it. But this is an excellent event. I'm not a big symphony fan, but I try to go at least once each summer.
