Is anyone else here having trouble using the quote feature in a reply?? It's not working on my end??
I wanted to say to my friend southbound, that a lot of people are missing the point of my thread LIke explained somewhere else in this threead,
"My original point has less to do with the particular businesses discussed in the article and more to do with this - I am happy and proud to live in a place (the south) where people feel comfortable showing their faith openly to the world.
That's all - no big agenda, not trying to convert anyone, not trying to upset anyone - just saying I'm proud that this is common in our way of life down south and in Charlotte in particular."
And I do appreciate everyone who has posted in kind, thoughtful ways
Love Week is going to be an incredible week in the life of Elevation Church. There is no better way to celebrate 4 amazing years than to reach out to our city like no one else. Our audacious goal is for Elevation volunteers to serve at least 1 hour for a total of 5,000 hours in our community during the week of February 13-21.
My wife heard on the radio this morning Love Week already has over 2000 service hours so far this week, and it is only Monday. It is so refreshing to see a church give back to the community in such a big way, not to mention all the money they have given to various non-profit groups in Charlotte to help them out. Elevation is definitely not a church about making money for themselves, and I am truly blessed to be a part of it.
Regardless what you believe, if you like your city you can't deny great things are being done by the people that go there.

YOU maybe "comfortable" because you wear the "correct" jersey.
If you don't wear the right jersey, you may not be as "comfortable"...
I'm not arguing "right" and "wrong" jersey, I'm just making the distinction that one needs to look outside their own scope and realize that comfortable to one might not be comfortable to all.....
The south isn't the only place that openly shows their faith. Many places around the country do openly show their faith (ie muslim/jewish/etc)...its not exclusive to the south.
Greetings,
I do appreciate Christian based companies coming forward. When your husband is a fine christian man and has to deal with all the foul mouths, porn and hung over workers on constuction sites. It can wear people down.
When you can go to work and have Prayer and so on, what wonderful support for our hard working men.
That really helps them to enjoy there job more.
Do you know any names and locations of these constuction companies.
Be Blessed

Actually Jack, if faith in God is wearing the "correct" jersey what is the problem? This country is "one nation, under God,..." after all.
My thread is not just about Christians - I have already stated that our Jewish neighbors here in Charlotte are very visible and not afraid to live their faith "outloud" either. AND GOOD FOR THEM.
People in other parts of this great country may have faith, but as I stated previously, no where else but the south is faith such a visible part of life. That makes me happy to live here.
And truly, in all my travels other than the Hasidic Jews in New York state (who proudly wear their their unique "uniform" to identify themselves) I have never seen faith in God so openly displayed in public.

This is from the Pledge of Allegiance. The Under God part was not added until 1954. It was originally written in 1892.
Original Verse: (1892)
“I pledge allegiance to my flag and the republic for which it stands: one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all.”
Modified (1954)
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Where this is misunderstood by modern people, is that it was added as a response and affirmation against Communism as this was during the height of the Cold War. IMO, the original is better only from the standpoint that it isn't suggestive of things about this country that should not be in the pledge to the flag.

It matters little to me when God's name was added to the pledge , that it is there is good enough for me.
I am happy to live in a country that thumbs its nose at communism

Funny about the communism thing. It's the communists that manufacture all our goods needed for day to day modern living now. I would challenge you to find the good communists making all the stuff in our stores lining up to pledge allegiance to the American Evangelical God. It's funny if you are not serious about this. Scary if you are, and even if you aren't, there are plenty who are. It speaks to a blindness that has crept into religion where it is used as a justification for the illogical and self important instead something of inspiration and self reflection. I guess it goes with this culture now.

I am not sure what you are trying to say - perhaps you could try again? How does this relate to faith on display in Charlotte and the south??
Thumbing our noses at communism as an idealogy and way of life for our country does not mean we can't trade with people from communist countries.
