There is no such thing as inexpensive dental work. You would need to do what most of us do - set up a payment plan.

And tell them up front you will need to do that - and you want reduced rates, as they can do that if they only will. It all depends on the dental practice.

Default Dental plans

Since I am self-employed there are plans available online but then I went to Carolina Dental Care, 8620 Crown Crescent Drive, and they also offer discounts that were much better than anything online. You pay a fee annually, for singles I believe it's $225 and then you get discounts off procedures there after. They ran comparisons between the online plan and theres. I was satisfied and I don't trust anyone when it takes time to find out if they do good work that you cannot see.

I had to have a root canal without dental insurance and I think a lot of places now offer Care Credit. You have a year to pay off whatever expenses you incur free of interest. That might be one option for you.

Sadly "dentist" and "reasonably priced" don't go together

Maybe the one listed at the bottom of this thread is an option?

what makes you think dentists arent reasonably priced, do you think they over charge for their services?

Where to even start?? Dentists these days have to have so much fancy dancy technology to "compete" with each other that of course they have to overcharge to pay for it all. Even for people with insurance you still pay more at a dentist office for routine work than you would your regular medical doctor. It's really sad to me how cost prohibitive dental care has become for a lot of Americans.

saying that most dentists overcharge is out of line an unfounded on your part. That implies they do it to be greedy and make more money and dont care what their patients are burdened with. Face it insurance doesnt pay for the dentist like it does gen medical care, is that the dentist"s fault? Trust me most dentists would love to have all their work covered by insurance so they could do what the patient needed and not what they can afford. Ill bet you over 98% of them would rather fix a tooth then yank it out, but often they have to do less than ideal care because of money or because insurance only covers one thing even though it may not be in the patients best interests. Sure there a small group of dentists that may overcharge, but that is everywhere in every proffession. Ask me how I know.

I see that you are in the University area. I go to Dr. Phillippi and Kwon - they are located off Harris Blvd. in what used to be known as the Newell area. I have insurance now, but didn't used to have it for my kids. They are really nice people and both are excellent dentists. If you call and talk to someone - I feel sure they can work out a payment plan.

Are you going to deny that the very expensive equipment most dentists now all "have to have" doesn't cause them to charge higher prices than in days past?

The more technologically advanced the practice, the more expensive the service. Sadly, it's very hard to find a "low tech" dentist office in Charlotte anymore.

I don't think dentists are "greedy" and none of them are getting filthy rich, but the care costs too dang much because of their high overhead.
