Hello I am considering moving to Union county NC from NY. I am an X-ray Technician with experience in Ct and Mammography. I was wondering what health system is better to work for Presbyterian or Carolinas health. Or is it better to work for a private office. Do the hospitals have pensions and how many weeks of vacation do you get when you start? What are the pro's and con's of each place. I know techs are not licensed like in NY. Do the techs in NC need AART certification in all areas to practice each modality? Could I also know the pay scales there.
Thanks!!
Any info would greatly help.

I work for lake norman Regional Medical, it is a small hospital.I have been in Nc for 1 month, also from central NY.So far i have heard that Presbyterian is the best, in reguards to benefits, and treating there employees good.Carolinas is next in line. The two are taking over most medical facilities in the south.
The pay is less here from NY, i took a $4.00 per hour less job as a CT tech here, and all of the medical facilities pay about the same, so i am told.
All of the interviews that i went on,required you to be ARRT, and then have your license if you do a specilaty.I interviewed at carolinas, and presbyterian.
Good luck and let me know if you need any help here.
I have been applying for jobs in carolina medical and nov ant health online for the past three yr's and no reply, possibly becuz i am from out of state??? Not sure. I am a xray tech who want to move by the end of yr to charlotte, kind of scary moving without a job,but want to be close to family.. Anyone have any ideas of finding the best route to landing a xray job in charlotte area??? Prior to my move???
I am relocating to nc, i want to get my mammo license does anyone know about the process there in nc??? Schooling, how long, expense?
There is no licensure for imaging in NC but generally, third party payors, hospitals and breast centers require registry. Typically, a mammographer is a Registered Technologist with additional experience in mammography.
Be aware: there are an over-abundance of techs in this region and schools are not easy to get into, often having a wait list of years, or requiring that folks re-apply for admittance for years (in other words, they don't keep you on a list - you have to keep applying for each upcoming class)
If you want to travel a little outside of NC ... Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill is hiring. I don't know one thing about benefits, etc. Just know from my neighbor that works at PMC they are hiring. I think they have online applications.
Maybe I misunderstood LIZABESS's inquiry . . . I read it as she has no training as an Xray tech and was inquiring about how to get into the field . . . ? Lizabess, do come back and clarify.

"I am a xray tech" she says and there's more detail on another thread.
