My wife and I are relocating to Charlotte from Alpharetta, GA in early August. We are looking at some neighborhoods but need some alternatives. We are highly interested single family homes in Baxter Village but don't know if there are any other areas similar to Baxter that are traditional neighborhood design either on the south or west side of the city. We have seen some places in the Belmont area that we like but just haven't visited that area in person. Our price point is 300k and pretty much no higher so we are priced out of some of the nicer TND neighborhoods & homes. Any insight is much appreciated.

Additionally, we are also curious about locations of any Whole Foods type grocery stores (I don't think the Whole Foods stores are open yet). Are there any within a reasonable drive from Fort Mill and/or Belmont?

Thanks, Mike

You may want to look into jwhomes.com. They have a Baxter type village going soon in Pineville/Fort Mill.

Hi. Have you considered also looking in or around the Indian Trail area? U can get more home for your money and are in the general area of south Charlotte and the Upstate if that is important. There was takl about the Whole Foods going in to the Elizabeth redevelopment project closer in to town, but that seems to have gone to sleep in the short term. I DO KNOW that there is an Earth Fare which is excellent and comparable right at Johnston Road and 485. It is superb and would be in your (greater) S CLT area. There are 2 Trader Joes coming to town and one I think is going to be in the Piper Glen area.

You will have options at your price point. As a previous poster said, there is an Earth Fare store in the Ballantyne area that would be closest to Fort Mill. A closer community to the earth fare would be Blakeney Greens, though they are generally at a higher price point, and homes there tend to sell very quickly. There is a Home Economist on Independence, so consider Beverly Crest as well, but those also tend to sell quickly and are a little higher than your $300 limit. Best of luck

I agree that Ardrey is a lovely neighborhood, but I believe the homes in there are beginning in the low 400s.

Thank you all for your information. I looked at Ardrey and it was beautiful but a little more than we want to afford right now. I'm sure after we drive through on our next visit we will want to live there too.

We also saw some neighborhoods in Huntersville that looked very interesting (esp. Vermillion). Does anyone know how the commute would be from there to the old Charlotte Coliseum?

Yep around 30 or so minutes. What builder did you like in there?

Good night, 30 minutes from Huntersville, maybe at 3:00 in the morning. You should look at Berewick if you're trying to get to the Coliseum area, then you are talking 5 minutes with all of the things you have mentioned.
