I'm looking for a walking track near Ballantyne. I know there is something off of pinville matthews road, but I'm not sure how to get to it. Isn't there something near trader joe's on rea road as well?

What I'm really wanting is a track like at a school that is open to the public.

You are probably looking for the Greenway. Get on Johnston Road going towards the city. After you pass the Toringdon Shopping Center ( Red Robin, eyc..), and cross over a little bridge, you will see on your right hand side a small parking lot. This is the greenway that connects to the entrance off of Rea Road. ( Trader's Joe ). You can park here and walk the trails.

There is a track that you can use on the weekends that is off of Community House Road. It is at the Community House Middle School. Gate is always open and people are always using it.

Oh so the trader joe's is the same as the other one? I know there was something off Pineville Mathews too, is that the same one?

Is the greenway nice? How long is it?

The Greenway is really nice. Some area's are like walking on a boardwalk at the beach. I wanna say if you walk from the entrance at Johnston Road to the entrance at Rea Road it would be around 1.6 miles or so one way. I have ran it both ways and it came out to be around 3.2 miles.

Check out this link that lists all of the greenways and parks in Charlotte (upper left)

6.1 miles is the length or 12.2 total round trip. I start at Johnston Rd, go left over bridge to Trader Joes (Rea rd), then turn around back and go all the way to Nakatos on Pineville Mathews Rd. and back to Johnston Rd. I ride my bike and it takes me a little less then an hour.

Be careful after a rain some of the bridges get really slick. But yes it is a very nice greenway.
