There's Startover that will let you start any program on any channel over again from the beginning without having recorded it manually. There are also eBay apps coming that will flash a message up on your TV if somebody outbids you on an item. Basically lots more than just the basic TV...Dish can't touch it.
If you have a large screen TV, >50 inches, cable is garbage. Your lucky to get 3oo lines of resolution through cable. HDTV on cable is inferior to satellite dish as well. I have had both. You are right about losing signal with a dish during storms. It is very rare though. direct tv is by far cheeaper than cable of dish network

You don't need digital phone to have caller ID appear on your TV. Dish as done this for years and all you need is an Analog Phone jack and phone service where you have already subscribed to caller ID. You have your DirectTV or Dish receiver hooked up to a phone line all the time to get pay per view and other updates.

Why would anyone want to watch baseball on TV? I do when my Ambien prescription runs out.

If you need internet access, keep in mind that ATT's and others are a lot slower than TW's.

Cable has faster internet speed, but it is affected greatly by traffic. DSL is only affected by your distance from a relay station.

Do not get DIsh NEt if you want to see MLB games. I have it and I also have all the sports channels. The problem is that MLB blocks all the games except the ones in your area and The only games you will get are Balt and Wash.
Good luck........

Hands Down Direct TV, time warner cannot shake a stick at the channel line up. I don't know if you have High Definition but we upgraded to that a few months ago, the reception is amazing. I wasn't a dancing with the stars fan but it was one of the HD shows that were televised during the time i got my HD TV.

If you really like someone, Direct TV gives a $50 referal to recruit new customers. I love the DVR too.

To get the Mets games in NC, you're only choice is going to be DirecTV. They will be the only pay TV company that will offer the MLB Extra Innings package which allows you to view professional baseball games that are out of your local market. They signed a deal with MLB to be the exclusive provider of that package. I forget if that deal starts this season or next season, but regardless, they'll be the only game in town for the MLB Extra Innings package at some point in the near future.

I love my DirecTV service, so regardless of baseball, I think it's a great choice anyway
