Sounds like a simple question. Seems like everyone that lives here has moved here from another town, but has a million friends. Just wondering if there are any good tips to meeting new people.

I moved here two years ago and have found joining clubs is a good way to meet friends. I joined a women's club that has many, many activities and introduced me to many women and couples. I play tennis, and meet women through my tennis clubs' teams. We joined a country club and met even more folks through that.

I found it quite easy as I'm a mother. I joined UnionCountyMommies.com, and I've made all my friends through that site pretty much. There are ones for other areas locally like CharlotteMommies, LakeNormanMommies, etc. They are all large groups with forums as well as events.

online groups, religious communities, events with similar interests (marathons, fashion shows, art crawls), professional networking, cheering the same team at a game/bar....

Go old school, go to an event or activity you like in your area, and say hi to people. The old fashioned way has always worked better for me, everyone is interested in everything when it's an online thing.
