my puppy is 7 months old and she's potty trained but she needs obedience training BAD - she chews everything, she growls and barks because she thinks she's playing and she doesnt listen to my commans unless i have a treat. If anyone can recommend a dog trainer I'd appreciate it!!

Too funny. I was just going to post something similar. My puppy can't go to these classes yet but in a few weeks I'll be looking for something as well. Hopefully we'll get some good recommendations here.

I would start off with Petsmart, and then see if that helps. I always see the Dog Wizard Jeep around my area, but i have not used them...

Petsmart didn't do much for me. But thanks anyway, I'm looking for a great dog trainer - i'm not concerned about the cost - I just need the best, this dog needs serious obedience :-)

You can also ask your vet. He/she may have some good ideas besides Petsmart. I did use them (Petsmart) for my previous dog, with mixed results. I'm looking for more one on one attention.

By the way, which vet did you go with? We are with Long Animal Hospital, after much research! Just curious since you live right around the corner from me.

That's what I need too! one-on-one obedience training!! I'm ready to pay whatever it may be because she's a good girl and we love her, but man, some nights I just want to lock her in her crate all night! (don't worry, i dont do that...i'm just saying the temptation is there )

I've heard rave reviews about Long Animal. I'll have to check them out, Thanks for the advice! I'm currently with Mixed Pets Vet in StoneCrest - they are okay but i'm not in love...and they are overpriced...they try to get any penny they can for things that are unneeded!!

I would go across the street to Piper Glen Animal Hospital. They are wonderful too!

As for putting her in the crate at night, you shouldn't be ashamed if that's what she needs. We have a six year old lab mix and she has to be in her crate when we are gone b/c she has severe separation anxiety. It is her safe place, and when she knows we are about to leave she eagerly runs into it. She slept in it as well when she was a puppy until she could behave at night.

When she chews something she shouldn't, do you offer her an alternative chew toy? That's what we did, and our dog doesn't chew anything anymore.
