I saw this one as I was passing by. I do not know anything about it. But the name is in English which is a first for me I have attended several Thai and Laos temples but the names were never in english.

I tried calling that number some weeks ago. Whoever answered, did so in an Asian language. I did not pursue it beyond that.

There are meetings around Charlotte of various groups
Charlotte Community of Mindfulness - based on the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh. The site hasn't been updated, but I know they still meet on Sunday mornings at Myers Park Baptist. You might call to get current info. Very welcoming group
Charlotte Zen Meditation Society I went to this group several years ago. I love Teijo Munnich, but the group at that time seemed a little... dry, and not cohesive. It may be vital and thriving now, I haven't been in quite a while.
Siddha Yoga Meditation Center - Last I heard, this group was meeting here on Wednesday evenings. I've never attended, and could find only this generic listing for them. I heard good things about this group!
Vajradhara Buddhist Center (http://www.meditationcharlotte.org/courses.html - broken link) - I have a friend who studied with Tilopa for many years. I believe most of the classes are conducted in English, but I haven't attended.
You might also check out some of the many yoga centers and classes in Charlotte. While not specifically Buddhist, a good hatha yoga practice can help nurture whatever was awakened when you saw the jade Buddha.
I believe I made a similar enquiry at some point but can't manage to turn it up again in a search.
Anyway, I recall someone writing that one of the Buddhist groups in Charlotte was a cult and to be avoided. Does anyone know which group this would be? Send a private message if needed .
The original post above is a few years out of date. Of the currently active groups, which would you recommend for (1) regular meditation classes or practice (preferably mindful meditation but open to other suggestions) and (2) a short intensive course or retreat of 2 to 3 days?
*Bumping* this as I figure many people had an especially busy week last week . (Is that an acceptable reason?)
