Thanks everyone. We checked out Wintergreen, King's Family, and Veritas but they were out of our price range.

We had our wedding at Camp Albemarle. We had swimming in the river, slip-n-slides, kickball, fishing, a tie-dye t-shirt session, and a wedding ceremenoy. There is a dining hall/meeting room, a natural ampitheater with seating, two 40 person cabins. It is not anyhting like a traditional wedding venue but our families had a really fun time and it was very pretty. It was also very inexpensive.
Officially there is no alcohol allowed. Feel free to read any menaing into this you choose.

I am a local wedding planner in Charlottesville!

Have you looked into Montfair Resort Farm? That may work for you if you like a rustic/outdoorsy-vibe.

Other ways to save on venue costs include having Friday or Sunday wedding, obviously Saturdays are the most popular day to get married and venues often are less expensive other days of the week. Or, having an off-season wedding - you can usually get vendors to be more flexible on their prices in the off-months (Dec-March).

I doubt this would be of interest to the author of the original message, but since these threads are read by many, here is another Blue Ridge wedding spot, beginning this summer....being run by the county, the prices might be more competitive than some of the more over-the-top destinations....in Roanoke County...
